COLLECTION

The 20th and 21st century art collection built by the Common Arts Foundation aims to collect a representative collection of the best possible works created after 1945 and still being created.

The works of contemporary classics – Tadeusz Kantor, Stefan Gierowski, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Wojciech Fangor, Henryk Stażewski. Teresa Pągowska, Leon Tarasewicz, Stanisław Fijałkowski, Jan Lebenstein, Ryszard Winiarski, Roman Opałka, Jerzy Nowosielski and many others – were the first to be purchased.

These are the pillars of the collection and set the directions for its development. However, the ambition of the collection is not only to gather a representative group of classics of Polish post-war art, but also to collect works important for the art of the new millennium. Therefore, an extremely important thread in the collection are the works of artists who live and create actively today.

We strive to select important works, works that are not afraid to pose difficult questions, as well as ground-breaking and committed works.

The collection that we are creating has its origins in the 1940s and smoothly moves into modern times. Each of the epochs and each of the artists deals with topics and problems that are key for themselves and their time, and these are reflected in the works that are included in our collection.
